When is the cheapest time of year to hire post-construction cleaners in Ottawa?

The cheapest time to hire post-construction cleaners in Ottawa is usually the slower part of the year, when fewer projects are finishing and crews have more open dates. For many companies that means the colder months, when outdoor construction slows down. When a company's schedule is lighter, you may have more room to negotiate and more flexibility on dates. Prices vary from company to company, so the only way to know for sure is to ask several for written quotes at the time you need the work.

The reason is supply and demand. Ottawa's busiest building season runs through the warmer months, and when lots of projects finish around the same time, cleaning crews get booked up. In busy periods you may pay more and wait longer for a date. Spring can be especially busy, when projects delayed over the winter all wrap up at once.

There are trade-offs to booking in winter. Exterior work like pressure washing, upper-floor window cleaning and hauling debris from outdoor areas is limited or impossible in freezing weather, because water freezes and ice makes ladder work hazardous. However, interior post-construction cleaning works year-round, since the house is heated. If your project is an interior renovation, such as a kitchen remodel, a bathroom or a basement, winter can be a good time to book your final clean.

One thing to keep in mind for winter bookings: dry indoor air during the heating season keeps fine construction dust airborne longer, so crews may need to run air scrubbers longer and make extra passes. That can add some labour time, partly offsetting a lower rate, and a good company will account for it in the quote.

For the best value, ask companies when their quieter periods are, and avoid the holiday stretch when many crews take time off. Ask for itemized written quotes regardless of season, and compare them line by line.
